Phil Sheehan

Phil's musical journey began in a home brimming with melodies, nurtured by his mother, Mary (Howe) Sheehan. A talented singer, teacher, and children's choral director, Mary Sheehan broke ground as the first Musical Director for the St. Catharines Separate School Board.
For 24 years, Phil has lent his voice to A Cappella Niagara. His passion for harmony also led him to sing with the Batavia and Buffalo NY choruses, where the ensembles twice clinched the Seneca Land District championship, earning them coveted spots at competitions in Kansas City and Philadelphia.
Phil's quartet experience is rich and varied, encompassing groups such as Forward Motion, New York Minute, Central Park, and Vintage. Notably, New York Minute secured the Seneca Land District senior quartet title, while Vintage triumphed as the Ontario District senior quartet champion.
Driven by a desire to lead, Phil has honed his directing skills through workshops in Ontario and at Harmony University in Nashville and Denver. He currently enjoys directing A Cappella Niagara, though he feels the weight of following in the footsteps of their accomplished past director, Jim McConachie, whose eight-year tenure left an indelible mark on the group.
